New chapters opening up!

Seems quite a few major events get posted on this blog, when I look back.  Guess that was the point of it, but I never realized that’s how it actually played out.

So with that 10 years are my current home comes to and end, recently sold the property.   Funny enough, 10 years ago I had just brought this property, which at the time I should have learnt that Christmas/New Years isn’t the ideal time to be moving from one place to another.   I’m looking to build a new home, which the land is currently untitled.  So that means I have to find some temporary/semi-permanent dwellings.  Hence not the best time for moving.

But it’s slow and steady, and hopefully first step to a great new home (much bigger and grander than the current) and new amazing chapters in life!

Mental weakness … a gym killer!

Well been pushing hard at the gym for the last month or so, swore of alcohol as well. Saw some good strength gains. In most areas. Push up a decent 180kg bench. But when I went to do it again, my minded failed me. So since then I’ve been off.

Last night I couldn’t even put up 140kg for reps, I got sweaty in the palms and mentally weak. Have to take a few days off to get it right in the head.

Did do a 1RM max video of 160kg though, on that day pulled a 230kg dead-lift as well. Most I’ve ever gotten off the ground. Used straps and started at 200kg as well …

Well I’ve gotten a new iPhone. It’s nice to be mobile and still connected. For the most part it can most pages and functionality. But it did have issues with editor here had to switch to HTML mode.

Well I’ve been hitting the gym the last week more regularily.  6 days on a 3 day split.

  1. Deads, Squats & Incline.  Mostly Deads and other leg work
  2. Chest and Back; incline, pullups, bench, rows.  Chest and back
  3. Arms and shoulders; curls, tricep extensions, close grip, shoulder presses.

It’s been okay.  Pushing out some decent numbers.  Have grown a few cm in places.  In the next week or so will have 2 weeks holidays, so will focus a little more and push out maybe twice days.  But hopefully will be able to get to the gym with a friend and push out some good sessions.

It can be hard to do max work by yourself without a spotter, so am finding it hard to go as hard as I can.

So push it to the limit!!!

Simplemachines forum

Well for about 18 months I’ve been helping out on the SimpleMachines forum site as a Support  ‘Specialist’.  I started around Sept/Oct 2007 joining to ask a question about custom profiles.

After that I saw many threads asking for help, so started posting help.  The constant new and various thread gave a welcomed break to the boring internet.  So I got more and more spammy with support.  It was very enjoyable and at the height of my activity was posting ~1200 posts a month.

Recently I’ve been voted into the duel position of Lead Support Specialist.  So now with the fellow Lead we need to try and stimulate the current members we have to continue supporting the community.  But I can understand the burnout many can have with answering the same questions in and out.  So will have to come up with some interesting methods to make it easier for people to help and incentive to help. , check it out.  A great free and powerful forum software.

227.5kg / 500lb club

So ever since I started doing dead-lifts my goal was to reach the 500lb mark.  Now at 95kg/209lb I hit that mark recently.  It was a good day, and I thought I had more in me at time.

Not a ‘legal’ lift due to hitching, but I got it up and locked it out.

Currently got 220kg X 2, so am working on more reps and stamina!

Still going strong … heHE.

Well in the last months I’ve shifted my previous focus from upper torso too include legs, or at least more focused on my lower body. With that in mind I shift to the power 3, Bench, Squat & Dead-lift. I like to include some pull-ups as well for a nice pump.

On Monday I dead-lifted my heaviest weight so far …. 190kg/418lb! Now I only weigh around 88kg, so that is more than 200% my body weight 😀 My goal is 200kg … and I almost got 200kg, I think if I had gone for the 200 first and not done the 190 I would have lifted it!

So my current maxes are:
Flat Bench: 145kg (haven’t test max in a while)
Decline Bench: 150kg
Incline Bench: 120kg (haven’t really tested max)

Squat: 130kg (Dropped 160kg a while back and haven’t been brave enough to try again)
Leg Press: 310kg (Haven’t tried to max rep this one yet, but limited weights where I train…)
Dead-lift: 190kg

Shoulder Press: 125kg (Machine doesn’t go any higher, so can’t test more. Have to put a single 25kg plate on stack.)
Cable Row: 140kg (Machine doesn’t go any higher … well I have to put 25kg & 15kg plates on the stack..)

So will work on my legs more, I don’t think I’m even near my max on those… so it’s good to have new goals and not get too bored with standard routines.

Well I’ve since returned to weight training (bodybuilding/weight lifting, etc) and have been at it for a few months now.  I remember in my younger days do about the same amount of training, but never was as strong as I am now.  This surprises me as I figured an early 20’s guy should be able to amass more muscle than an early 30’s guy …. but go figure.

For the most part I’m happy with my progress, but like before am not happy with the muscle mass or strength.  When dealing with ones self it seems you can never be happy.  I look at myself and have the impression of smallness …

But that being said I benched the most I’ve ever bench the other week, 130kilograms/286pounds.  Now I only weight ~85kg so that’s quite a lot. It was only a power-set (single rep) but it still was impressive, I can do 2-4 power-sets of 120kg so the strength is there.  Alas I want more and it’s still not enough.

A colleague (female) once asked me “Why are you doing it, what are you hoping for?”. I had no response, I don’t know why I do it … but for the most part I enjoy it.  It is most likely due to the fact I have nothing else to do, I’m sure if I had a lady friend or something more enjoyable to do I’d soon loose interest.  So for now I continue to try and get stronger.

That’s the key strength, I don’t want to be big and weak.   But smaller (if need be) and strong as an ox.

Well the trainee started, and well she certainly as beautiful as I remembered.

But that being said I found out her age and well a lot younger than I. So I wont burn any bridges but my hopes were dashed. Either way some nice eye candy, and she’s quite bubbly so that will certainly brighten up the place.

I find that I’m smitten, which means I loose appetite and can’t eat. This is an indicator for me that I like a person, that I can’t eat around them. I’m also acting like a little school boy which means I tend to act bad towards her to cover my attraction.

… fuck! Maybe I’ll grow up one day..

A New beginning

Well this gets used often … but whatever.

So where I’m staying at tried/wanted to increase my rent by an extra $15 per week, I went huh I don’t think so.  So called ’em and said I’d have excepted $10, but no response.  Oh well I had been saving and wanted to get my own place and this gave me the much need push to actually get my butt into gear.  This was only a few weeks ago, but once I get movin’ I move fast.

So as of yesterday I had secured my new place.  It’s a few suburbs over, so more of a drive to work but not the most I’ve had to drive.  It’s a nice two storey villa with a small court yard which will suit me very well (low maintenance).  I’m hoping to get out of my current place and into the new place by start of Febuary.  Which is just before the rent is to be increased.  It will be bitter sweet to tell them to go stick-it.
